| Obviously we can't go to the customer today, so I'm going out. São Paulo is not very safe, but I think my old backpack can do it. So I walk to Ibirapuera Park, a large city park with lots of birds, people and security. In any case, it is safe in the park. I don't see any rare birds, but some unknown species to me. | |

| I have found a guide who wants to do a birding excursion: Carlos Henrique. He shows me many birds in the more rural area of Salesopolis and Mogi das Cruzes. The excursion was from 6am to 6pm, and yielded a total of 67 species. I knew some species from the US, but most were new to me. It is already 12 years later when I write this text and I notice that I have photographed many birds beautifully. That is often different with a birding trip. The most special photo was of the Common Potoo (Nyctibius griseus) sleeping quietly on a branch. | |

| On Sunday I go on safe outings with a colleague: taking a taxi to the Botanical Garden and the Zoo. The botanical garden is very naturally laid out, and is therefore a good place to watch birds again. If we get there early, there are more guards than visitors. It will be necessary. The zoo is a place to see animals that you would not normally see in the wild, such as the Condor. | |

| The second week we go to a conference to promote our product. Between sessions and appointments I enjoy myself in the hotel garden. The hotel is located on large walled grounds;hotel, swimming pool, beautiful garden, and messy corners that belong to a large garden. These are of course the best areas to look for birds. The guard thought it was suspicious, someone with a large camera in an uninteresting part of their garden. After he saw the photo, it was okay. This area has other species such as the White-vented violetear (Colibri serrirostris). | |

| The second day I walk around their garden even more. There are no blackbirds, but instead there are Cattle Tyrants (Machetornis rixosa) and Masked Water Tyrants (Fluvicola nengeta). Also small brown birds, but also a beautiful Fork-tailed Flycatcher (Tyrannus savana). Today we counted 13 species on the grounds of the Hotel Bourbon Atibaia. | |
